A conductor consisting of seven or more aluminum and galvanized steel wires built up in concentric layers, the center wire or wires are of galvanized steel and the outer layer or layers are of aluminum

     Since they have such good characteristics as simple structure, convenient installation and maintenance, low cost for the line, large transmission capacity and are also suitable for laying across rivers and valleys where special geographical teatures exist.

2). Specification: ACSR is composed by bare concentric-lay-stranded galvanized steel wire(s) with aluminum wires surrounded by one or more layers of helically. Greased ACSR can also be supplied.
3). Application: ACSR is widely used in overhead electric power transmission and distribution lines with various voltage levels.

ACSR or ACSR cable or ACSR conductor used for Overhead electrical distribution and transmission lines for distributing power.

Applications:
Used as bare overhead transmission cable and as primary and secondary distribution cable. ACSR offers optimal strength for line design. Variable steel core stranding enables desired strength to be achieved without sacrificing ampacity.

Construction:
Aluminum alloy ****-H**9 wires, concentrically stranded about a steel core. Core wire for ACSR is available with class A, B, or C galvanizing; "aluminized" aluminum coated (AZ); or aluminum-clad (AW). Additional corrosion protection is available through the application of grease to the corrosion or infusion of the complete cable with grease.

Notes:

Resistance is calculated using ASTM standard increments of stranding and metal conductivity of *1.2% IACS for EC (***0) and 8% IACS for steel. AC (*0Hz) resistance includes current dependent hysteresis loss factor for 1 and 3 layer constructions.

Current ratings are based on *5 centigrade conductor temperature, *5 centigrade ambient, 2ft/s wind, *6/watts/sq. Ft sun, 0.5 coefficients of emissivity and absorption.
