S****3 is a duplex stainless steel grade. It owns the combined
characteristic of austenitic and ferritic steel:
● Excellent resistance to stress corrosion cracking in chloride environment
● High
resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion
● Good resistance to erosion corrosion and corrosion
fatigue
● Very high mechanical strength
● Good weldability
S****3 has the excellent corrosion property, so it is a highly suitable material for service under grim environment, containing chlorides and hydrogen sulphide. It also owns very high strength, which makes this material as an attractive alternative to the austenitic steel grades in structure subjected to heavy load.
