An electroplated wheel has only a single diamond or CBN layer retained by nickel plating on a precisely machined base metal.
Electroplated wheels combine excellent sharpness because of the high protrusion of abrasives, but lead to inferior surface roughness compared with bonded wheels. In addition, if a base metal can be machined, form grinding wheels are easily manufactured simply by electroplating abrasives on the base metal. On the other hand, they cannot last as long as bonded wheels because they are single layered.

Advantages: Excellent sharpness and precision requirement, with fewer limits on the shape of workpiece, the base could be reused to reduce cost.
Processing: Profile grinding, surface grinding, cylindrical grinding, internal grinding, and flute grinding and so on.
