COR-TEN/CORTEN STEELS
Weather resistant structural steel. The anticorrosive properties
of weather resistant steel are better than those of other
structural steels in many applications. The steel is
self-protecting: The rust layer on the surface becomes a tight
oxide layer that slows down the progress of corrosion. The steel
is an economical, long-lasting and fully recyclable material.
with the addition of rare earth elements, the plate has a good
impact toughness and cold workability. with moderate contents of
corrosion-resistant elements Cr, Ni, Cu, P, Ti, the
corrosion-resistance of Q**5GNH plate is 1.7~1.9 times of that of
straight carbon plates; And the corrosion-resistance of
Q**5GNHL& Q**5GNHL is 2.*8~2.6 times of that of straight
carbon plates, which reach the same level as CorTenA in US and
SPA in Japan. The accuracy to size is high. The plate is flat and
straight with a smooth surface and a good lacquer performance.
The carbon equivalent is low, the sensitivity to heat-crack and
sold-crack is small, and the welding performance is good.
TYPICAL APPLICATIONS: The steel is used for various types of
welded, bolted and riveted constructions e. G. Steel frame
structures, building cladding, metal sculptures (Angel of the
North), chimneys, bridges, tanks and containers, exhaust systems,
vehicles and equipment constructions.
