Product Description

Trulicity is a glucagon-like peptide*1 (GLP*1) receptor agonist, a hormone that helps normalize blood sugar levels. The safety and effectiveness of Trulicity were evaluated in six clinical trials in which 3,**2 patients with type 2 diabetes received the drug. Patients receiving Trulicity had improvements in their blood sugar control as observed with a decrease in HbA1c levels (hemoglobin A1c is a measure of blood sugar control).


Trulicity has been studied as a monotherapy and in combination with other type 2 diabetes therapies, including metformin, sulfonylureas, thiazolidinediones, and mealtime insulin. Trulicity should not be used to treat people with type 1 diabetes; patients with increased ketone bodies in the blood or urine (diabetic ketoacidosis); patients with severe stomach or small intestinal problems; or for patients who cannot manage with diet and exercise as first-line treatment.
