Enamel Frits are ceramic coatings, which can be applied on glass and ceramic ware, as well as metal surfaces, such as aluminium, cast iron, copper, gold, sheet steel, silver, stainless steel, etc. The purpouse of the coating can be for decoration, as in the case of jewelry enamels, protection of the metal, as when sheet steel or cast iron are coated with enamel, to make long-lasting cooking and eating utensils, sign boards, and chemical reaction equipment, etc. or it can be a little of both, as in the case of enameled aluminium utensils, which add a decorative coating to the utensils, while also protecting the user from the carconegenic effects of eating from aluminium utensils. The formulation and application process of the enamel, will, of course, depend on the material to be enameled, and the type of protection or decoration required.
