Ferrosilicon is iron alloy composed of iron and silicon. Ferrosilicon is silicon iron alloys that made of coke, steel scrap, quartz (or silica) by iron smelting furnace. Silicon and oxygen is easy to combine in silica, so it is often used in steelmaking as deoxidizer. Meanwhile, when generating SiO2 , lots of heat is given off. So it is helpful to raising the liquid steel temperature when deoxidizing. And the ferrosilicon also can be additives of alloying elements , that is widely used in low-alloy structural steel, spring steel, bearing steel, heat-resistant steel and electrical silicon steel. Ferrosilicon is often used as reducing agent in iron alloy production and  chemical industry.
