As Headspace vials have to withstand internal pressure, almost all vials on the next page have a wall thickness of 1.2mm. Thus it is guaranteed that the vial will not burst. Contrary to a widely spread opinion the seal and not the vial represents the weakest part of the whole sytem. Under pressure the septa will bulge against the Aluminium cap with such a force that the cap is torn apart. By own testing we varified that e.g. our Perkin Elmer vial *0 *9 ***7 can easily withstand *0 bars or more while the seal is torn apart at around *0 bars when no pressure release system - like our Headspace Cap is used.
