Olive polyphenols nourish and stimulate the skin, helping to prevent burns and cuts. Hydroxytyrosol is the most important ingredient of the olive fruit.
In the olive oil, hydroxytyrosolis probably the main responsible for the high phenol oil oxidation resistance.
Hydroxytyrosol is one of the antioxidants with greater capacity to eliminate free radicals, based on ORAC value (****0 µmoles TE / g). In addition to its high antioxidant capacity, hydroxytyrosol has other properties such as anti-inflammatory, antithrombotic, antimicrobial, anti-aging, anti-irritant and as a photoprotective agent and depigmentation of the skin through its ability to inhibit the synthesis of melanin in the skin.
Due to all these properties its main use is in cosmetics, as sunscreen and skin bleaching.
Description: It is a yellowish-brown powder with a characteristic odor and a slightly bitter taste. It is practically soluble in water and soluble in methanol and ethanol. This product is obtained from the olive leaf and contains 7% hydroxytyrosol measured by HPLC.
