1.Application
The Tumbling Barrel Test simulates repeated falls which may occur to such devices as
connectors or small remotecontrol units which are normally attached to cables during
use.
The Tumbling Barrel Tester is the recommended instrument to perform such a test. A
barrel is turned at a rate of fiverevolutions per minute resulting in ten falls per minute.
The sample falls from a heightof **0mm on to a steel plate thatis 3mm thickand
backed by *9mm thick hardwood. The number of falls is set by the user in accordance
to thestandard they are meeting. After the tumble barrel procedure,the specimen is
checked visually,mechanically, and electrically as prescribed in the relevant specification.
2.Specification:
Tumbling Barrel Tester is made to the specifications set forth in major international
standards. Tumbling Barrel Tester employs a large clear acrylic access door for easy
viewing and access to the chamber. Models are offered with a standard barrel with a
drop height of **0mm. Barrels of other sizes are available as
well for standards such
as IEC ****2 or DIN ****2 where a drop
height of **0mm (or ***0mm)is required.
