There are many kinds of gas chromatographs with different functions, but their basic structures are similar. Gas chromatograph is generally composed of gas path system, sample injection system, separation system (chromatographic column system), detection and temperature control system and recording system [1].
1. Air circuit system
The gas circuit system includes gas source, purification and drying pipe, carrier gas flow rate control and gasification device, and is a closed pipeline system with continuous operation of carrier gas. Through this system, pure carrier gas with stable flow rate can be obtained. Its gas tightness, accuracy of flow measurement and stability of carrier gas flow rate are all important factors affecting the performance of gas chromatograph.
The carrier gases commonly used in gas chromatography are hydrogen, nitrogen and argon, with a purity of more than *9%, good chemical inertness and no reaction with related substances. The selection of carrier gas shall not only consider the influence on column efficiency, but also match the analysis object and the detector used.
