root thickness ****0mm. Roots and rhizomes are covered outside with a corky layer. In rhizomes the core may be seen; it is not available in roots. A fracture is fibrous.

Colour – roots are light and light-grey—brown outside, and they are light-yellow in a fracture.

Smell - peculiar to a licorice root.                 

Taste - lusciously-sweet, slightly irritating.

Humidity - not more than *2%.

Impurities - other nonpoisonous plants not more than 4 %,

                   mineral impurities - not more than 2 %.

Presence of mould and rot are not allowed.

Packing - roots and rhizomes are packed into bales not trimmed by a cloth which are produced by pressing of raw materials by press and covering of  bales with a steel packing tape across in four places. The bales weight is within ******0 kg.
