Light cycle Oil (LCO) is a middle distillate from FCC (fluid
catalytic cracking) units with high sulfur (up to 4 wt.%), Nitrogen
(up to **0 mg/kg), and aromatic contents (up to nearly *0 wt.%) [1,
2], which make the processing of this middle distillate very
difficult and suitable to comply with the environmental
legislation.
It is a liquid residue used in the oil industry during catalytic
cracking to convert heavy hydrocarbon residues from the early
stages of crude oil refining to lighter, more valuable
products.
Cycle oils may be further processed to break down into more useful
products. In particular, it may be mixed with heavier products and
re-refined.
