Working Principle
Scintillators generate scintillation photons when exposed
to radiation (such as X-rays, gamma rays, etc.).
Scintillator array light guides use the total reflection
principle of light to collect these scintillation photons
and guide them along a specific path to the photodetector.
For example, the refractive index of the light guide
material is usually designed to be higher than the
surrounding medium, so that when light propagates inside
the light guide, it is totally reflected at the interface
between the light guide and the surrounding medium, thereby
confining the light inside the light guide, reducing light
scattering and loss, and achieving efficient light
transmission.
