Greetings,
Our Toronto Group is 1 of the only 5 companies authorized to
distribute Pemex Crude oil. Buyer cannot buy it by directly walking
to Pemex, however, buyer is welcome to do a site visit and meet us
at Pemex to verify everything if desired, but it's not
mandatory.
FOB or CIF basis on production contract
only.
Pemex has 4 types of crude oil, and can custom make any
specifications required by buyers. The 4 types are described
below.
Procedures:
1) Buyer submits LOI/PO (LOI Template attached) Must be end buyer
as DD will be performed by Pemex.
2) Buyer signs IMFPA-NCNDA if applicable
3) Buyers LOI is submitted to the chief lawyer at PEMEX
Headquarters in Mexico City.
4) PEMEX notifies us when Buyer LOI/PO is accepted (usually within
**3 weeks) PEMEX then drafts a Sales & Purchase Agreement (SPA)
Contract, usually only **3 pages. We will discuss the draft
SPA-Contract with Buyer and arrange for updates/changes; then we
will schedules face-to-face meeting at PEMEX Headquarters to
finalize the SPA-Contract.
Types of crude oil:
MAYA is a heavy (****2 °API gravity) and sour (3.4% sulfur content
by weight) crude oil, which produces lower yields of gasoline and
diesel in simple refineries when compared to lighter crudes. In
order to maximize the economic value of this type of crude oil, its
processing requires refineries with high conversion units which
transform the crude heavy fractions (residue) into products with a
higher value.
ISTHMUS is a medium (****3 °API gravity) and sour (1.8% sulfur
content by weight) crude oil, with good gasoline and intermediate
distillates (diesel and jet fuel/kerosene) yields. The highest
economic value of this crude is obtained in refineries with FCC
(Fluid Catalytic Cracker) units. Its quality is similar to Arab
light crude and Russian Urals crude.
OLMECA is the lightest of the Mexican crude oils (****9 °API
gravity) and sour (0.*3% - 0.*5% sulfur content by weight). Its
characteristics make it a good feedstock for lubricants and
petrochemicals.
ALTAMIRA is a heavy (*5.***6.5 °API gravity) and sour (5.5% - 6.0%
sulfur content by weight) crude oil. As with Maya crude, Altamira
has lower gasoline and diesel yields in simple refining schemes
compared to lighter crude oils. Its physical properties make it
appropriate for asphalt production.
Thank you!
