The N*0 is an innovative product for the netting industry. The N*0 winds twine automatically on to an open split type plastic net needles. The N*0 is manufactured for needle sizes varying from ******0 mm in length and ****3 mm width. The number of windings is adjustable. The N*0 is made for winding single and double twine on to the net needles. The magazine is adjusted in accordance with the thickness of the needles to be winded. The N*0 automatically stops when the twine or the needles are out or if there are knots on the twine. Productivity of the N*0 varies on the thickness of the twine, the number of windings on the needle and whether the windings are single or double. Net maker Hordur Jonsson of VT Fishing Supplies, in Grindavik, Iceland, has been using N*0 since March ***6 and says that the net loft production has increased by ****0% and that the machine payback time is less than a year. "We reckon that around *0% of a net maker’s time goes into filling needles, depending on what we are working with. So, in a net loft like this one, the machine is roughly equivalent to an extra staff member”. He comments that, with the machines in the middle of the workshop, staff can easily refill the magazine with empty needles and replace the balls of twine when necessary. They have been using the machines to build up stock of filled needles in the twine sizes they use regularly and the boxes of filled needles are stacked ready for use. “I certainly would not want to be without these machines in the future after our experience of using them”.
