Before every carpet or a rug is put on the handloom the designers (artists) make the graph or taalim work of the carpet according to its warp and weft quality. Every small block of the graph paper depicts on knot and the designer has to take care of every block's color, its curvature so that the overall impact of the carpet is maintained. The colors used are water colors on the graph which is laminated to be saved and then served to the weaver on the loom. In the single knot weaving (Senneh Knot) the graph is the main source of the weaver
But in the double knot weaving (Persian Knot) the TAALIM is used. Taalim is basically a language of impressions drawn on the paper, each denoting a color and its number of knots.
The whole carpet is written in horizontal taalim words and the master weaver loudly reads the language and the hands follow the colors n the knots. Its something strange to watch how magically the weavers understand the language and turn it into a piece of art.
The raw carpet or rug from the handloom is washed and put to sunlight to dry. After drying fully, the pile is cut with scissors on suitable heights to give the design clarity and to reflect shine with light. The carpet at this point is ready to get to the finishing personnel for edging, stretching, fringes and final make up.
In Pakistan the Mori Bokhara production is centered around the city of Lahore. It is no wonder that Pakistani Mori Bokhara has become one of the most popular of all the carpets, a welcome addition to every imaginable room setting. The Mori Bokhara rugs with rich colors and soft velvety pile will serve as the best source of coziness for your room.
Sizes include very small (as small as 1ft x 1ft), small rugs, runners, and large carpets.
The old Mori Bokharas were almost always on wool foundation. The
modern time Bokharas are of wool on cotton warp n weft, in a
large variety of qualities, from really bad rugs with fewer than
*0 knots per sq. in. to very tightly woven pieces with over **8
knots per sq. in.
