P*0/1.***1 is a general purpose mold steel designed for the plastic mold industry. With a combination of Chromium, Manganese, Molybdenum, and Carbon, as well as being pre-hardened, P*0 is a very popular mold steel grade.
P*0/1.***1 is used for plastic injection and compression molds, and zinc die casting dies. Molds from this material can be made and placed directly into service.
P*0/1.***1 has a machinability rating of *5% of a 1% carbon tool steel.
P*0/1.***1 is sold in the pre-hardened condition. Typical annealed hardness is BHN **6/**1 RC *0/*2.
P*0/1.***1 maximum working hardness is BHN **1 RC *2. (Further heat treating is not normally required. )
P*0/1.***1 is capable of meeting ASTM-A**1.
