Palm kernel shells (or PKS) are the shell fractions left after the nut has been removed after crushing in the Palm Oil mill. Palm kernel shell (PKS) is in abundant supply in the southern part of Nigeria. PKS is a solid waste and a byproduct from palm oil production and has synthetic light weight aggregates which have been reported in the literature.
