l How do we work
Regular plastic product:
1. Evaluation
If it is toolthat you are looking for your own injection moulding plant, we need:
1. 3D drawing
2. 2D drawing with tolerances of plastic product
3. Spec and requirement of tool, like standard (we are familiar with DME/HASCO/LKM), spec&brand name of steel (we are familiar with P*0, H*3, **0, etc), number of cavities, brand name of hot runner (if there is), texture, etc..
If it is finished plastic productthat you are looking for, we need:
1. 3D drawing
2. 2D drawing with tolerances of plastic product
3. Requirements of the product, including cosmetic, fitting (if this part is supposed to be assembled with other parts , we need to know how they are going to fitted for part optimization evaluation and inspection) etc..
4. Demand of this product, e.g *0K pcs/month, 1KK pcs as its life time, so that we could determine what steel to be used, number of cavities, and how to combine different parts into proper number of tools.
Given the info above, we will begin evaluation of your product, and give optimization suggestion according to our experience, in order to make real production more stable, efficient, and economic. Mold flow will be made if necessary (a program to find out potential moulding defects by simulating the flow of plastic resin fluid). A DFM will be made after evaluation to explain how we are going to design this tool, and suggestion of utilization.

3.Tool making
Now, let’s cut the tool.
Here is a brief introduction of the main process of tool making.
Fitting drawings making:First we have to disassemble the tool drawing into multiple components which can be processed by machines. These steel-made components will be assembled together at last stage to get a complete set of tool.
CNC: used for cutting basic shape. So far, with Agie Charmilles from Switzerland, Fanuc from Japan, we are able to do CNC machining with high accuracy and high efficiency requirement. The highest precision is 5μm, highest speed is *4,**0 rpm, and biggest cutting knife is dia 2.1cm.

CNC working
EDM: EDM is needed for those more complicated shapes which are unable to be cut by CNC. First, we have to cut copper (called Electrode) into the mirror shape of the steel component (namely shape of product), then load the electrode on EDM, and the electrode will cut the steel by constantly contacting discharging.
Now the EDM machines we have include Agie Charmilles, Sodick, and TOPEDM. Highest precision is 2μm.
Wire cut:
Similar processing technique with EDM machine. Difference of wire cut is discharging is made by molybdenum wire instead of copper.
Wire cut machine includes 3 types: high speed, medium speed, and low speed. Lower speed is, higher precision is. Our two Agie Charmilles wire cut are both low speed ones. Precision is 3μm.
Among the machining facilities, in general, low speed wire cut has the highest precision, before EDM, while CNC is the last one.
Measuring:
Measuring is frequently used during tool making. Only when the steel components are tolerance qualified, can possibly make moulded plastic part be dimensional qualified. Besides, plastic part also needs measuring. So, a good measuring instrument is a must for all these requirement. Our lab is equipped with complete and advanced measuring instruments, like Hexagon 3D projector, Mitutoyo height master, Rockwell hardness detector, etc.. All these instruments must be regularly maintained according to ISO requirement.
Fitting:Fitting is a very important process. Very rich experienced is needed for technician for he has to assemble many steel components together. Otherwise, the assembled tool will easily have problem in moulding.

3.Injection moulding
Tool will be moulded after fitting. Plastic fluid, melted from plastic particle, is injected into heated tool. The tool will open after it cools down, and then we get the solid plastic product.
We have *0 advanced moulding machines, like Sumito, Toyo and Nissei from Japan. Tonnage is from *5T***0T, and able to produce plastic part at **0g as the maximum weight. All moulding machines are equipped with Star robot.
Plastic products also need to be measured according to its 2D drawing with tolerance specified.

Precision connectors:
Precision connector is also a kind of plastic&metal combined product. The difference between it and regular plastic product is metal is always involved, and very high precision is required due to fitting. For example, tolerance of 0.*5mm is a very high precision for a **0mm long/wide plastic product, however, the metal terminal of a connector normally required 0.**5mm at least.
In order to achieve such high precision, how we design and process the tool is very different from how we usually do for a regular plastic product. Tools of plastic and metal terminals will be made in separate way. metal terminal is usually made first by pumping machine, and it will be placed into plastic tool to be moulded together with plastic part by injection moulding machine. This is called insert moulding.
There’re also some connectors only have plastic or metal terminal.
Plastic part:
The most important and frequently used facility of making a plastic part of connector is milling machine. Our milling workshop is equipped with *0 milling machines, including Seedtec, Okamoto and Kent. Precision is 3μm.

Metal terminal:
The most important and frequently used facility for metal component is wire cut, particularly low-speed one.
