Samarium Cobalt Magnets

Samarium Cobalt magnets (a.k.a Sm-Co magnets in short) are strong permanent magnets made of alloys of Samarium and Cobalt. They are generally ranked similarly in strength to neodymium magnets, but have much higher temperature ratings and higher coercivity. Samarium Cobalt magnets come in two series, 1:5 and 2:*7, and have wide uses in applications where high field strength is needed at high operating temperatures such as high-end electric motors used in the more competitive classes in slotcar racing, turbo-machinery, travelling-wave tube field magnets, bench-top MNR spectrometers, etc.
