According to the decision about registered appellation of origin released by the National Office of Intellectual Property of Vietnam in ***7, Lang Son star anise is considered as the national property, which will be protected indefinitely throughout the territory. Only individuals and organizations with the permission of Lang Son People Council have right to use Lang Son Star anise as a appellation of origin.

Over many years, planting Star aniseed was identified as a key economic and long-term strategy of Lang Son. 

This is an important foundation for the stable development of Lang Son (Vietnam) Star anise so that the organizations and individuals who are planting and processing star anise can focus on investing modern equipment, improving the quality and expanding the market. The area of growing star anise in Lang Son is approximately 3.**0 ha, account for *1% of total area in the country. The output is over 4.**0 tons per year. Especially, Lang Son star anise is of high oil content, no toxic.
