Function and
characteristics
It is one metal object hung on both side of
high voltage cable. Its shape is like dumbbell. We can see it in
any high voltage cable. It is mainly used to avoid the cable’s
swing if there is heavy wind. Damper is made up of hammer, steel
strand, stranded aluminium conductor and bolt.
In order to avoid and lighten the conductor’s
vibration, we usually install some dampers around the suspension
clamp. The damper will have a vertical motion when the conductor
vibrates. As a result, it creates an asynchronous even reverse
force to reduce the conductor amplitude even eliminate its
vibration.
