Description:
Prototyping is the last step of industrial design before manufacturing. It is also very important step in the process of design. The objective of prototyping is to test whether each part of the product is working properly and efficiently. Inventionland China owns two rapid-prototype machine and two CNC. Designs are prescribed to be validated by prototypes to find any poetntial problems before mass production.
3D modeling and mechanical engineering have already solved most of the mechanical problems before heading to the prototyping. But we will find a real difference between drawings in the computer and a solid tangible sample in hand. It is an engineering issue to put everything together with different raw-material, flexibility, conductivity and other characteristics. Problems submerged when we use Pro/E to integrate these parts in the computer could emerge when we testing the prototype. Problems also exhibit themselves when assembly test were carried out, schemes on the drawing will not figure the difficulties on assembly procedure which greatly expand the cost in the mass production.
Other Mechanical tests and electronic tests were also critically important in the process of prototyping. We never know an on-paper specification can be applied in real working circumstances. Prototyping is about to find out these answers.
Great strength and effort were necessary to test with repetition to find any potential problem and revise the design until it has no flaws.
