Definition:
Talc occurs as a white to gray-white, unctuous powder.
Powdered, natural, hydrated magnesium silicate containing varying proportions of such associated materials as alpha-quartz, calcite, chlorite, dolomite, magnesite and phlogopite.

Function:
Anticaking agent; coating agent; lubricating and release agent; surface-finishing agent; texturizing agent. Used in paper, rubber, plastic, food additive, etc.
