Choke Manifoldï&frac*4; ãã1ã Application ããChoke manifold is necessary device to control thewell kick successfully and execute the pressure controltechnology on oil/gas well in the course of drilling, as itis, the device is adopted to execute new drilling-well**9;stechnique of balance pressure, which can avoid pollu-tion of oil-layer, improve the speed of drilling and con-trol blowout effectively. One end of the device connectswith the side flange of BOP spool. When BOP closes, itcan control the finite pressure from casing by adjustingthe choke valve**9;s opening, so balanced drilling can workunder minimum pressure-difference. ãã2ã Assembly & structure ããChoke manifold consists of choke valve, gate valve, pipeline, fittings and pressure gauge etc, see gate valvepart and choke valve part in the above drawing ãã3ã Working principle ããWhen the pressure rising in well, fluid in well canbe released in utilization of the choke valve opening/closing in choke manifold to control casing pressure, which can directly blow out through gate valve as thecasing pressure is quite high. ãã4ã Specification ããPressure level is divided into five levels, ***** *4MPa, *1MPa, *5MPa, *0MPa and **5MPa, it can be also de-signed according to the requirement of customer. ãã5ã Operation requirement ããï&frac*4;1ï&frac*4; All the working pressures of parts in choke mani-fold should be matched with the working pressure ofthe BOP stack used; ããï&frac*4;2ï&frac*4; Choke manifold should be installed at the place where operator approach it conveniently, pressure testshould be executed as installation, while the sealing testpressure should be equal to the rated working pressure; ããï&frac*4;3ï&frac*4; Pipeline should be so smooth and straight aspossible, the corner of the pipeline should be made of**0°shaped forged steel bent pipe, which should haveadequately large bore; ããï&frac*4;4ï&frac*4; The working pressure gauge should be installed; ããï&frac*4;5ï&frac*4; In winter, the choke manifold be able to workunder a low temp condition. ãKill Manifoldï&frac*4; ãã1ã Application ããIn case of increase of the well head pressure, thekill manifold can provide a means of pumping heavydrilling fluid into the well to balance bottom hole pres-sure so that well kick and blowout can be prevented. Inthis case, by using blowdown lines connected to the killmanifold, the increasing well head pressure also canbe released directly for bottom hole pressure release, or water and extinguishing agent can be injected intothe well by means of the kill manifold. The check valveson the kill manifold only allow injection of kill fluid orother fluids into the well bore through themselves, butdo not allow any backflow so as to perform the kill op-eration or other operations. ãã2ã Structure ããThe kill manifold consists of check valves, gatevales, pressure gauges and pipelines. The one end ofthe kill manifold is connected to the drilling spool andthe other end is connected to the pump. The kill mani-fold and choke manifold are both designed to API *6Cand can be used together.
