Ceramic, also known as Ferrite magnets, which are made of a composite of iron oxide and barium/strontium carbonate by ceramic processing technology, are the least expensive class of permanent magnet materials, easily machinable, have high coercive force. By strength, ceramic are stronger than Alnico magnets but weaker than neodymium magnets and SmCo magnets. Ceramic magnets are manufactured by die pressing and then sintering. This process provides an economical means of production of various shapes and sizes. Ceramic magnets can be produced with either isotropic or anisotropic properties. Ceramic*1 is an isotropic grade with equal magnetic properties in all directions. Ceramic grades 5 and 8 are anisotropic grades. Anisotropic magnets are magnetized in the direction of pressing. Ceramic magnets have a good balance of magnetic strength, excellent corrosion resistance and normal operating temperatures between **0C and **0C. They are the most widely used magnets today, can be found in a wide variety of applications- Automotive applications Industrial and consumer motors Industrial holding applications Material handling Computer peripherals Speakers
