Description

Isfahan (Esfahan) is a city found in central Iran.
This city has a rich history. Its reputation for rug
making dates back to the *6th century. Isfahan
rugs are known for their very high quality and fine
design. They are woven in wool or silk on a
cotton or silk base. Historically known for their
bold colours of blue and red, Isfahan rugs now
use more subtle colours which makes them very
popular worldwide.
Common patterns are mostly symmetrical with a
single medallian surrounded by curvilinear vines,
palmettos and floral motifs. Other designs are of
the tree of life and are of Shah Abbas field.
Nain is the name of a city in Iran, and the Nain
Persian carpet takes on the same name. Their
design is of curvilinear vines with forked leaves
and mainly floral patterns with a central medallian.
They are precise, delicate and as they are very
beautiful they are a favourite among collectors.
Excellent grades of wool and silk are used on
foundations of fine cotton. Nains all have the
distinct beautiful trademark of having the family
name interwoven at the top of the carpet. Habibian
is the most reputable family in Nain.
Colours of Nains are mostly Beige and cream with
blues. Nowadays it is possible to find carpets in
reds and green.
Nains are available in three levels - based on the
number of knots per square inch
