Heavy drill pipe is the transition section between ordinary Kelly and drill collar. It can relieve the stress concentration of the combition of drill collar and Kelly during the transition. Besides, it can provide drill pressure and reduce the linked area of drill stem and side wall, as well as wear rate of OD. There is an upset section in the middle of drill pipe. The drill pipe and joint are welded with cemented carbidehardbanding, which can effectively keep the pipe from wearing.
