Scandium oxide

Description

Sc₂O₃ is one of relatively important scandium products. As its physicochemical property is similar to that of rare earth oxide (e.g. La₂O₃, Y₂O₃ and Lu₂O₃), the production method for it during production is extremely similar to that of rare earth oxide. Sc₂O₃ can produces Sc, difference saline products (ScCl₃, ScF₃, ScI₃, Sc₂(C₂O₄)₃, etc.) and various scandium alloy (Al-Sc, Al-Zr-Sc series). These scandium products are of practical technological value and good economic effects. With some characteristics, Sc₂O₃ enjoys a better application in fields including aluminum alloy, electric light source, laser, catalyst, activating agent, ceramics and space navigation and a promising prospect.
