INTRODUCTION: METCON TRADE INTERNATIONAL Group is largely engaged in Logistics Service Providing Business. Warehousing is a pivotal part of Logistics Management. For its distribution business METCON TRADE INTERNATIONAL needs to operate warehouse(s). And the objective of METCON TRADE INTERNATIONAL is to adapt the best of practices in warehousing. 1.1 Definition of Warehousing: Warehousing and Storage are primarily concerned about operating warehousing and storage facilities for general merchandise, refrigerated goods, and other products. Generally, it provides facilities to store goods. It takes responsibility for storing the goods and keeping them secure. It may also provide a range of support services, often referred to as logistics services related to the distribution of goods. Such logistics services can include: a. labelling b. breaking bulk c. inventory control and management d. light assembly e. order entry and fulfilment f. packaging, pick and pack g. price marking and ticketing / stickering/ labelling h. And transportation arrangement. Furthermore, the warehousing or storage of goods must be more than incidental to the performance of support services. 1.2 Scope of Warehousing: Warehousing and storage operations include, but are not, limited to, the unloading, checking, sorting, and placing in storage; withdrawing from storage, checking, and loading; using storage space; inspecting stored materiel; PP&P and other care of materiel; physical inventory and special security measures, when specifically requested; and documentation incident to the aforementioned services. The instructions contained herein provide METCON TRADE INTERNATIONAL Group policy and procedures to be followed in establishing, using, expanding, inactivating, and disestablishing storage and warehousing operations; cross-servicing of warehousing by and among departments assuring the most effective, economical use of storage assets; providing a means for greater flexibility in the positioning of stocks owned by the company; disestablishing and inactivating facilities; and warehousing and re-warehousing of materiel within the company. 1.3 Purpose of This SOP: The primary purpose of this manual is to provide instructions, procedures or guidelines whereby the warehousing program may be administered as per policies established by the company. The instructions contained herein are applicable to all warehouse activities performed by Distribution division of METCON TRADE INTERNATIONAL.
