Ammonium

Ammonium nitrate after soil
application dissolved ammonium nitrogen absorbed by the soil as a
result of the exchange reactions, nitrate nitrogen reacts with
cations of the soil
solution. In
podzolic soils the insufficient number of cations in solution can
be observed in this soil acidification. Part of
the ammonium nitrate can nitrify that also causes acidification
of the medium. On black soil and other soils of
neutral and alkaline series such a phenomenon is not
observed.Â
