Function and Purpose
Based on RTTS packer, Champ
packer makes improvement to add a concentric bypass, which can
reduce the suction as the tools going into the well. The Champ
packer can achieves the circulating below the packer, and the other
functions are the same with RTTS packer.
2. Principle and
features
The CHAMP Packer is a
hookwall-type retrievable packer with concentric bypass. While
going in the hole, the bypass is held open until mechanical slips
are set by the J-slot. The bypass is held closed by a balancing
piston, which uses work-string pressure to place a downward force
on the balancing coupling to prevent the bypass from being pumped
open.
