Appearance: drak gray powder.
Property: it is insoluble in water and ethanol but soluble in hot dense inorganic acid. Its comparative density is 6.*5, and its melting point is (***5±*0) °C. It can easily be deoxidized into cobalt metal by carbon monoxide. At high temperature, it can react with silicon dioxide, alumina or zinc oxide into various kinds of pigments.
Application:Cobalt oxide can be used as oxidant, the material for making cobalt and cobalt salt without nickel, cobalt activator, pigments of oil paint, ceramic enamel, glass colorant and feedstuff additive. It is also applied in the area of electron, metallurgy industry, cemented-carbides and magnetic materials.
