Hand Rolled Irish Beeswax Candles

Hand rolled beeswax candles, lit on Christmas eve, take me back to the harvest in late summer. A surplus of wax is naturally secreted by the bees every year. We take this wax and purify it by repeatedly bathing it in spring water. It is gently heated and pressed into a honeycomb pattern before it is hand rolled into candles. The colour of beeswax is determined by what type and colour of pollen the bee is collecting. In spring the wax is bright yellow from dandelions and in autumn it can have a blue-grey tinge from ivy. We use only our own wax which does not contain chemicals, colourings or additives, this gives you a long lasting candle which burns brightly without smuts or runs, and leaves a lingering aroma of honey, beeswax and summer blossom.
