The high nickel content impact s the toughness as well as good through-hardening(hardenability) in large section thicknesses . The steel also exhibits good resistance to thermal shock and thermal fatigue cracking , and relatively small dimensional changes during hardening. Typical applications include hot extrusion tooling , hot forging and hammer dies , hot heading dies, hot punchesm, hot gripper dies , and hot shear blades.
