L-Tyrosine (Levodopa EP Impurity B) is one of the 22 proteinogenic amino acids that are used by cells to synthesize proteins. L-Tyrosine is biologically converted from L-phenylalanine and is in turn is converted to L-DOPA and further converted into the neurotransmitters: dopamine, norepinephrine, and epinephrine.

Application

L-tyrosine is classified as a non-essential amino acid. This means the body can synthesize sufficient amounts to meet daily needs. An existing theory indicates that L-tyrosine is a semi-essential amino under certain situations the body cannot meet demands and additional L-tyrosine must be acquired through diet or supplementation
