Background and process of research and development
In storage and transfer, bulk coal generally has potential safety hazards like hardening, arch formation, jamming, leaking, spontaneous combustion, smoldering, etc. Especially in large scale coal mines, coal fired power plants and coal docks, there are higher requirements on safety, efficiency and economy. Currently, neither domestic technology nor imported technology or product can solve the above mentioned problems. So there are problems and shortcomings in aspects of preventing arch forming, activation, air locking, high efficiency and economy.
To meet the above requirements and solve the problems, 普兰德电力技术有限公司(hereinafter to be referred as our company), a company established in ***1, found solutions after 5 years’ effort in researching and development. Our company applied for an invention patent “Method for automatically tracking subresonance variable force wheel and variable force wheel device” (patent No. ZL ***9 1 ******0.1) on July *6, ***9 and obtained the patent later. Our company has also applied for another invention patent “Method for air lock and arch breaking of feeder and equipment useful for air lock and arch breaking of feeder” on March 2, ***1, and the patent entered the substantial examination on August *4, ***1. Through utilizing the above mentioned two intention patents as well as our many years’ technological accumulation and existing research and production capability, our company launched PLD Servo Air Lock Coal Feeder in ***2 (attached are related certifications).
Structure and working principle of PLD servo air lock coal feeder
The coal feeder is mainly composed of vibration exciter frame (vibrating motor mounted on it), feeding hopper (inside it has wedge shaped roof, bent plate and rocker arm plate), vibration transfer spring, support spring and upper and lower flexible connections. Among which, the vibrating motor, bearing and transducer are all imported equipment (the motor is from VAM, bearing is from FAG, transducer is from ABB). The flexible connections are made by imported material. The spring is professionally made by special material. The inside lining of parts that contact with coal are made of **4 stainless steel plate with thickness above 3mm.
(2) Working principle of PLD servo air lock coal feeder: Using subresonance principle design. When equipment is still, the angle formed by edge of wedge shaped roof and edge of rocker arm plate is just equal to the angle of repose for storage coal. Storage coal in a self-locking state does not fall. When equipment is operating, the angle of repose for storage coal changes because of the influence of vibration force, so storage coal can fall freely. According to the demand of different type of coal and coal feed amount, we can realize the control to coal feed amount by adjusting both the rotary speed of vibrating motor and angle of opening of rocker arm plate; When don’t need to feed coal, the rocker arm plate is in a closed air lock state.
Three working states of PLD servo air lock coal feeder
(1) Preventing arch direct flow state: When the coal has a higher viscosity, in order to eliminate adhibited coal at the dead corners of streamline bent plate, servo air lock coal feeder can use fluidity of coal to rush dead corners inside the coal feeder, and achieve the purpose of breaking arch and preventing block formation.
(2) Working state that adjusts flow as demand: By regulating the angle of rocker arm plate, the coal feed output can be adjusted between 0% and **0% according to demand.
(3) Closed air lock state: When don’t need to feed coal, the rocker arm plate is completely closed, can act as closed air lock, avoids direct contact between air and coal to produce air duct effect. Thus, minimize the possibility of spontaneous combustion, smolder and even coal explosion.
4. Six advantages of PLD servo air lock coal feeder
(1) Suitable for wider range of coal type: It has better adaptability to all sorts of coals and different working conditions by regulating the rotary speed of vibrating motor and angle of opening angle of opening rocker arm plate.

(5) Using transducer to regulate and control, simple and reliable configuration: by comparison, pneumatic adjustive coal feeder has complex structure, lower reliability, higher equipment cost and larger maintenance workload.
(6) Compact Design, saving space and reducing cost: In comparison with other coal feeder with same specifications and size, the capacity of PLD servo air lock coal feeder can double the amount, and it can save *0% cost.
