Sulphur guard
catalyst is a nickel catalyst that is extremely effective
in adsorbing small amounts of sulphur compounds remaining
after upstream hydrodesulphurization processing. It is used
in liquid phase applications as a guard bed for trace
sulphur removal upstream of either catalytic reformers or
isomerization units. It allows refiners to take maximum
advantage of sulphur sensitive catalyst such as high
rhenium reforming catalyst,plus acts as a guard against
unexpected sulphur break-through to upstream
units.
