Calcium bromide is an inorganic salt with the molecular formula CaBr2. It is a colorless oblique linear crystal or crystal block, odorless, salty and bitter in taste. Relative density 3.**3 (*5 ºC). Easily soluble in water, neutral in aqueous solution, soluble in ethanol, aceton  e and acid, slightly soluble in methan  ol, liquid ammoni  a, insoluble in ether or chlorofor  m. It can form double salts with alkali metal halides. Has strong hygroscopicity. Used in oil drilling, also used in the manufacture of ammonium bromide and photosensitive paper, fire extinguishing agent, refrigerant, etc. In medicine, it is used as a central nervous system inhibitor, which has inhibitory and sedative effects, and is used to treat neurasthenia and epilepsy.
A pplication
Calcium Bromide Brine is used during workover and completion operations to provide a clear brine fluid at a density up to *4.2 lb/gal (***0 kg/m3). It provides inhibition, preventing the hydration and migration of swelling clays, and can be used as packer fluids or to adjust the density of other brine systems. It may also be used in the aqueous phase of invert emulsion systems.

Recommended Handling
All personnel handling this material must handle it as an industrial chemical, wearing protective equipment and observing the precautions as described in the Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS).

P ackaging and Storage
Packed in *5 USG HDPE drum or ***0 Litres IBC (Tote tank).
Store in dry, well-ventilated area. Keep container closed. Keep away from heat, sparks and flames. Store away from incompatibles. Follow safe warehousing practices regarding palletizing, banding, shrink-wrapping and /or stacking.
