Disintegration of the tablet
For optimum bioavailability, most tablets are designed to rapidly release a prescription in the stomach. For this purpose, this formulation must be quickly dissolved in the acidic environment or dispersed, they also must be of sufficient strength to withstand coating, packaging and handling and other aspects of the test. So most of the tablet formulations added disintegrant ability to ensure stability and an appropriate combination of disintegration.
Disintegrants range from passive crosslinked polysaccharide dissolved capillary action and efficient disintegrant "explosion" type role, mechanism of action different. However, each of the mechanism are significantly affected by granulation or tabletting processes and prescription composition and other factors, so a different chemical class of disintegrants are generally not interchangeable.

polyplasdone ® cross-linked povidone (U.S. National Formulary specifications) series is to make the fastest rate of all excipients efficient swelling disintegrant (Table 4) which are N-vinyl*2 - pyrrolidone crosslinked homopolymers, but by a different particle.
