Description:
XM**9/ S****0 / Nitronic *0
Nitronic *0 is a nitrogen-strengthened austenitic
stainless steel, which provides a combination of
corrosion resistance and strength not found in any other
commercial materials in its price range. This alloy
possesses corrosion resistance superior to **6, **6L, **7
and **7L plus approximately twice the yield strength at
room temperature.
It has very good mechanical properties at both elevated
and sub-zero temperatures. The alloy retains low magnetic
permeability even after severe cold working or exposure
to sub-zero temperatures and excellent mechanical
properties up to ***0°F (**9°C).
Nitronic *0 is used in such applications as seawater pumps, gate valves for seawater ballast systems on tankers, high-pressure (microbial) deep-sea sampler and incubation chambers and underwater robotic arms, urea production, ammonium carbamate pumps, pressure vessels, tanks, heat exchangers, piping, fittings, valves and pumps, oil field production and down-hole equipments.
