Product Description

Macor Binder ***7 General Characteristics Macor Binder ***7 is a Black Iron Oxide based foundry sand additive designed to reduce casting defects.
Suggested Applications Foundry: Used in Gray Iron and Ductile Iron, Steel and Non-ferrous foundries.
Sand System: For dry or green molding sand as well as cold box, hot box, and catalyzed resin cores. Advantages - Improves dry strength and surface strength
- Reduces scabs, cuts and penetration of the sand metal interface.
- Eliminates veins and pinholes Mixing Guide In Molding Sand: In molding sand use at ½% to 2% with 1% being most common use rate based on the weight of the sand. ***7 can be added with the dry ingredients of the molding sand and blended thoroughly before water is added or it can be mixed with the slurry and then added to the dry sand. ***7 burns out of the molding sand at approximately the same rate as sea coal. This means that once it is established in the molding sand, the rate of addition can be reduced usually to between 1/*0% to ¼%.

In Cold Box, Hot Box, and Catalyzed Resin Cores: ***7 is added at a rate of ½% to 2% with ¾% being the most common to reduce penetration and prevent veining. ***7 should be added to the dry ingredients and milled or mixed long enough to insure uniform dispersion. This can be from *0 seconds to 2 minutes dependent on the efficiency of mixing. This addition sequence will result in maximum tensile PSI in most resin cores. Standard Packaging Shipped dry in *0 lb. bags and up to ***0 lb. super sacks.
