Macote Graphite General Characteristics

Washes are applied to cores and molds as an insulating and protective coating that peels the sand from the metal and produces a better casting finish. Factors influencing the selection of a wash include type of sand used, type of metal, coverage desired, method of application and the liquid selected as the carrier for the wash.

Design: Designed with a combination of finely ground graphite and zircon to improve the surface of castings processed in green or dry sand cores and molds including those developed with a cold set.
Base: Graphite-Zircon base
Bond: Soft bond
Suspension: Good suspension characteristics Suggested Applications Casting: For Grey Iron, Ductile Iron, and Steel castings.
Sand Systems: Green or dry sand.
Application Technique: Can be sprayed, brushed or flow coated on Cores and Molds. Advantages - Excellent peel at shake out
