System description for bitumen tape

XUNDA bitumen tape  is cold applied tape for both metallic pipelines and waterproofing works against 

outdoor bad weathers .

The bitumen tape shall be applied after the Liquid adhesive by hand or with a wrapping machine.

Features

The specification of the bitumen tape consists of three layers,

Adhesive layer: Butyl rubber Bituminous Compound

Backing : PP woven fabric cloth/Polyethylene/Aluminium foil 

Interleaf:Antiadhesive Film Treated with Silicone

Uses

High tack keeps long-term corrosion protection to steel pipelines.

Repair of damaged factory applied corrosion protection and waterproof

Outlining weld beads and cut backs prior to wrapping bare-welded joints.

Outlining seams on spiral and seam welded pipe.

Primerless mastic tape readily conformable to odd-shaped pipe fittings, valves, flanges and other buried structures.

Application

Prepare surfaces by eradicating all loose scale, rust or other foreign matter by grit blasting or wire brush. The surface must be clean, dry and free of grease.

Peel back strip and apply high tacky side of the tape to the surface and apply pressure.

Apply the tape spirally with sufficient tension to make it conform. Remove interleaving as wrapping proceeds. Overlap each turn by at least 1 or 55%. (Note: when proper surface prep is not achievable or when applying to pitted pipe, apply a thin film of Butyl Pipe Primer to all surfaces to be wrapped and allow to dry). (Over width silicone paper prevents product contamination during site handling and storage).

Application Temperature:
from +5ºC to +50ºC
Continuous Temperature:
from 30ºC to +60ºC
Peak Temperature:
up to +70ºC
 

How to apply the bitumen butyl rubber compound tape?

Prepare surfaces by removing all loose scale, rust or other foreign matter by grit blasting or wire brush. 

Surface must be clean, dry and free of grease.Apply thin film of Butyl Primer to all surfaces to be wrapped 

and allow to dry. Peel back interleaving and apply adhesive side of the tape to the surface and press down. 

Apply the tape spirally with enough tension to make it conform. Remove interleaving as wrapping proceeds. 

Overlap each turn by at least 1" or 55% to achieve double thickness.

Irregular surfaces such as valves, flanges, etc.
